MADE BY ORIGINALS With his two sisters and father, When Thanos Michaelides of the Thanos Hotels group isn’t overseeing the three hotels under the family name, his passion is channeled into his classic car collection and his two children. “Life is about being challenged,” he says. “And that’s what Almyra is about. It’s the only design-inspired hotel in Cyprus. We created something here that didn’t exist.” ARCHITECTURE & DESIGN Almyra is a collection of clean white geometric buildings that complement its lush natural surroundings. Set amid eight acres of gardens, the subtle, sophisticated structures demonstrate an attention to quality and craftsmanship throughout. Outside, one finds a marble-tiled Italian slate freshwater pools, while inside, Parisian designer Joelle Pleot creates understated elegance through iroko and oak tables, Carrara marble, and calming color schemes.
