关于本酒店 THE HOTEL Iceland’s first boutique hotel is owned by designer and gallery owner Ingibjörg S. Pálmadóttir, who has used modern lines, local artwork, and a palette of black, gray, and white to convey pure Nordic coolness. Keeping guests warm are heated oak floors, a lounge fireplace, a popular bar frequented by both locals and guests, and a Jacuzzi and sauna. MADE BY ORIGINALS Since the ripe age of seven, Ingibjörg Pálmadóttir had her sights set on being a designer. “I used to redesign my room over and over again, but I didn't realize I could study interior design until I was twenty,” says the Parsons School of Design graduate. After returning from New York to her home country of Iceland, Pálmadóttir designed cafés, a nightclub, restaurants, and now 101 Hotel, which opened in 2003. ARCHITECTURE & DESIGN 101 Hotel is housed in a geometric 1930s office building in downtown Reykjavík that once played host to the Icelandic Social Democratic Party. Despite the sternness of the dark gray exterior, inside one finds a celebration of rustic warmth—in the form of heated oak floors, tree-trunk tables, and a wood-burning fireplace—embellished by design pieces by Eero Saarinen and Philippe Starck, among others. A monochromatic interplay runs throughout the guestrooms as well, one example being matt and glossy black furniture contrasting with white Italian bed linen.
